Harvest Alternatives for Teams on Microsoft 365
Five Harvest alternatives compared on Outlook, Teams and Planner integrations, invoicing, approvals, Harvest import and price.

Harvest is a good choice for teams that want time tracking and invoicing in one place. It's simple to learn, it turns tracked time into invoices, and it takes payments online. For a small agency billing a handful of clients, that covers a lot.
Teams that run their work in Microsoft 365 often reach a point where that isn't enough. Their meetings live in Outlook, their conversations in Teams and their tasks in Planner, and Harvest connects to only one of those. Timesheet approvals and profitability reports are on Harvest's Enterprise plan. As teams grow, they start looking for a tool that fits the way they already work.
Of the five alternatives below, Lucen Track and timeghost connect natively to Outlook, Teams and Planner. Toggl Track has the most complete import from Harvest. Clockify is the lowest-cost option with built-in invoicing. If online payments inside your time tracker matter most, Harvest may still be the better fit.
What Harvest does well
- Invoicing on every plan, including the free one. Tracked time and expenses turn into invoices, with recurring invoices and receipt photos.
- Online payments through Stripe (cards, and ACH for US businesses) and PayPal.
- Accounting integrations with QuickBooks Online and Xero on the Teams and Enterprise plans.
- Budget tracking with alerts, and an uninvoiced report that shows billable time not yet invoiced.
- Scheduling through Harvest Forecast, sold separately at $5 per person per month (annual).
Where Harvest falls short for Microsoft 365 teams
- Outlook only. Harvest shows Outlook calendar events in the timesheet. Harvest's own site says it lacks direct Microsoft Teams integration, and it doesn't integrate with Planner, To Do or Azure DevOps.
- No Microsoft sign-in on most plans. Single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID is on Enterprise only.
- Approvals and profitability on Enterprise. Timesheet approval and profitability reports need the Enterprise plan, at $14 per seat per month (annual). The Teams plan, at $9, has neither.
- Usage-based fees. Paid plans charge for additional invoices, projects, clients and tasks beyond plan limits.

The alternatives, one by one
Lucen Track
Time tracking built for Microsoft 365, for teams whose work already runs in Outlook, Teams and Planner.
- Strengths: native integrations with Outlook, Teams, Planner, To Do and Azure DevOps; calendar events and Teams calls become suggested entries; a Power BI connector; Microsoft Entra ID sign-in; billable vs. non-billable time, budgets and profitability; SOC 2 and GDPR compliant.
- Compared with Harvest: lower entry price ($7 vs. $9 billed annually, or $9 vs. $11 billed monthly) and approvals on Premium ($13) rather than Enterprise ($14). Track creates invoices from billable time on every paid plan, starting with Starter at $7, but doesn't take online payments, so teams that bill and collect in their time tracker may still need a separate payment tool.
- Switching: a CSV import brings over users, clients, projects, project members, phases and time entries, and the Track API can import everything else. Expect to tidy up your Harvest export so its columns match Track's import format. Track's support team walks you through each step, and support is included in the free trial.
- Pick it if: your team works in Microsoft 365 and wants time captured from meetings and tasks rather than typed in. See Lucen Track vs. Harvest.
timeghost
A Microsoft 365–focused tracker that uses Microsoft Graph to turn meetings, emails, Planner tasks and Azure DevOps work items into suggestions.
- Strengths: native Outlook, Teams and Planner coverage; Microsoft 365 sign-in on its single plan.
- Worth knowing: no free plan; priced in euros; invoicing, accounting integrations and Harvest import aren't documented.
- Pick it if: you want Microsoft-native capture and handle invoicing elsewhere.
Toggl Track
A widely used general-purpose time tracker with a large integration library.
- Strengths: the most complete Harvest import of the five, bringing over clients, projects, tasks, rates and about a year of time entries; QuickBooks Online integration; PDF invoices from reports.
- Worth knowing: no Teams integration, and Planner works only through its browser extension. Approvals need Premium.
- Pick it if: a smooth migration matters most and your team uses many non-Microsoft tools.
Clockify
A low-cost tracker with a generous free plan.
- Strengths: built-in invoicing, approvals and QuickBooks from the Standard plan; Xero as an add-on; CSV import of a Harvest export.
- Worth knowing: Teams support is a web tab rather than an app, and Planner works only through its browser extension. The $3.99 Basic plan doesn't include invoicing; it starts on Standard at $5.49 per user per month (annual).
- Pick it if: you want Harvest-style invoicing at a lower price and light Microsoft integration is enough.
Timely
Automatic time capture that records activity and calendar events into a private timeline.
- Strengths: Office 365 calendar import; captures Teams calls; QuickBooks Online on Premium and up.
- Worth knowing: no Planner integration; imports projects and clients from Harvest but not time entries; its own help center says it isn't a full invoicing platform; Starter is capped at 5 users.
- Pick it if: you want activity-based capture and invoice from an accounting tool.
How to switch from Harvest
- Export your data from Harvest. Time entries come from Reports > Time or a Detailed time report (Excel or CSV). Projects and clients export from their own sections. Invoices export from Invoices > Report, or as a zip of PDFs from Settings > Import/Export.
- Decide what history to bring. Most teams import active clients and projects plus the current year's time entries, and keep older invoices as an archive.
- Import into the new tool. Toggl Track has a built-in Harvest importer. Clockify and Lucen Track import CSV files; expect to tidy up the Harvest export so its columns match the new tool's import format. Timely imports projects and clients only.
- Recreate rates, budgets and approvals, then run both tools side by side for one billing cycle and compare totals before cancelling Harvest.
- Reconnect billing. If you invoiced in Harvest, set up invoicing in the new tool or connect it to your accounting software before the next billing date.
